Below are the PBS expectations created by the PBS team. This is a JPS initiative that we will support as they continue to develop there PBS strategy.
Thank you to all staff for being involved in this collaborative process. We appreciate your ideas, thoughts, and time. We have now finalised our new expectations.
At Joondalup Schools…
We are respectful
We are responsible
We are kind
We do our best
Classroom teachers it is time to start getting in touch to ask parents if they would like to meet to have an IEP meeting. These meetings do not need to be long, (up to 30 minutes max). The purpose of these meetings is to discuss the most important outcomes you would like to set for the semester for students.
You may like to have an idea of the outcomes already, and can present a draft IEP. Alternatively you may wish to just discuss items with the parents.
When writing IEP’s it is important to have input from parents as therapists as appropriate.
You can organise IEP meetings before/after school or during your DOTT time. If you are unable to fit all parents in, you can organise IEP meeting during class time, but please liaise with admin so your class is not left short. We will employ a relief teacher for a couple of days to give all classroom teachers some additional time to make up for time missed. If you would like an admin person to sit in with you on the meetings (and help lead them) please let us know and we can.
Attached is a schedule of professional development that Sue Norman will be presenting over the next few weeks. This training is an open invitation to everyone, come along if you are interested in learning something new, or refreshing the skills you have.
International Women’s Day Breakfast
There will be brekkie in the staff room from 7am on Wednesday 8th March to celebrate International Women’s Day. We will also stream the DoE event on the screen so we can watch it while we have brekky together.
Sometimes students come up to the office asking for a spare hat as they don’t have one. This isn’t really working in the office anymore as the hats never come back. As a solution I am going to go and buy each classroom 2 spare class hats. (The Primary School are doing the same) Each class will have 2 spares, and you can manage this so all students have a hat if needed at recess and lunch time.
It is the requirement of the department to have a workload committee at each school if there is an appetite for one. The committee discusses the workload of staff and discusses strategies/negotiates how this can be improved if needed. The committee will then meet once a term. If this is something that interests you let me know.
Harmony Day / Ride to School Day
Will be celebrated on Friday 24th March. Generally on this day we encourage everyone to wear orange, and we plan a ride/walk to school and ride around school. More details to come out about this, however if you are keen to get involved/help plan let me know
JPS are planning an early close on Thursday May 11th. We will also close early on this day, and closer to the date we can work out how we can use this time with families.
Later in the term we will be having an evacuation practise. We will give you plenty of notice so you can prepare your class for it.
There are lots of new dates that have been added to our term planners! Attached is the updated version.
