As a campus team, we have decided to trial putting the newsletter out in weeks 3, 6 and 9 each term rather than fortnightly. Therefore a newsletter will go out next week, and then the following one will be in week 9.
Please find amended roster attached.
Joondalup – buy nothing Facebook Page
Our school has joined the buy nothing Joondalup/Edgewater Facebook page. We are trying to minimise as much waste/rubbish as we can, so if you have something (furniture/toys etc.) that are too good to throw away, but is no longer needed at school we can post it for collection from the community
A reminder that assembly is not compulsory for everyone. Assembly is to be a positive experience for students, and one that can be built upon over time. It is ok to have students sitting on the periphery, or attend for 5/10 minutes and leave, or just walk to assembly and walk back to class depending on their individual needs. Ideally over time it would be wonderful to have all students part of assembly, but not all students are ready just yet.
In your class teams only send the minimum number of staff needed at assembly. Other staff can prep, meet, upskill etc. during this time.
We will be having a brekkie on Wednesday morning in the staff room. Brekkie will be ready to go from about 7am and we are hoping to stream the DoE Women’s awards breakfast from the staff room. Come along any time from 7, stay for a short while or a long while and grab a bite to eat ?
I learned that Debbie Taylor – Principal at Cloverdale Education Support Centre is a finalist for this award!!
Thank you for everyone’s support to implement Connor’s plan over the last couple of weeks. Connor continues to find places to climb at recess and lunch, as well as in the classroom. The sensory room has been working for Connor in that it is a place where he can go to regulate his behaviour. This plan will continue for the next few weeks, thanks in advance for supporting Connor.
Is Friday March 24th. Letters will go home to families in the newsletter on Tuesday, but please remind them that;
Students (and staff) are encouraged to wear orange on this day to represent living in harmony, and everybody belongs. It is also ride to school day, and students can ride, scooter or wheel into school. We have some points (on the map attached to the letter) where families can meet a staff member to ride into school together.
I am also planning a parent morning tea on this date, just for families to come together and have a cup of tea, and meet for the first time this year.
This Week for AAC we have the next two PODD focus sheets for new staff and staff who would like a refresher and we also have staff training on TouchChat during assembly time.
This week’s PODD Focus Sheets are on Making Requests and on Asking Questions. These PODD sessions are on a Tuesday and Thursday morning between 8.15am- 8.30am in the drumming room.
I will send out a reminder on the messenger group when these are about to start.
If you are interested in attending the TouchChat Overview during assembly time on Tuesday, please send me a message to let me know if you would like to attend so that I have an idea on numbers.
Thanks
Sue
