It is Easter time!!
We are at school holidays already. It has been a busy term, take the holidays to recharge and enjoy whatever you have planned.
Next term commences on Monday 24th April. Students also commence on this day. We then have a public holiday on Tuesday 25th April for ANZAC day.
Jo Carpenter from NM TAFE will be out on Monday. She is the supervisor for our three prac students. (One student has withdrawn). The supervisor will most likely observe in the classroom, and then meet with the prac student one on one somewhere else (I suggest the staff room).
Staff, you will have the opportunity to give feedback, so please make sure you do!
A reminder to only have students attend the ANZAC service who are able to sit quietly during the entire service. If students are not able to do this please talk with each other to organise an ANZAC activity in your classroom instead. Many classrooms will have some students attending, and some remaining in classrooms. Work together across classrooms to join up where need be.
This week I will be running an introduction to Proloquo2Go during the Assembly time. This will start in the duplicating room at 2.10pm.
During this session we will look at setting up a new user, and adding and editing buttons. If you would like to attend, could you please let me know so I can make sure I have enough devices available for the training?

On Thursday 6 April there will be a technician inspecting all our fire extinguishers. You don’t need to do anything – this is just an FYI.
Over the school holidays a tree will be removed by the bike track. It is the roots from this tree that are causing damage to the bike track, and the arborist who has come out has concluded that the tree will continue to cause damage to surrounding infrastructure so it is best to be removed.
After this the concreters can come in to fix the track, unfortunately they are not available over the holidays – but I will let you know when we have a date.
There will be a surprise morning tea (something a little different) to celebrate Easter and the end of the term in the staff room at recess time on Tuesday
Accessing the school during the school holidays
We have met with the cleaners and organised a timetable so we know when and where the cleaners are cleaning during the holidays. If you have a look at the attached map you can see when the cleaners will be in your class/area.
This term cleaners are shampooing carpets – which needs a full day. See below for when your area is being cleaned.
- Blue Area – Room 33 Cleaning happening on Tuesday 11th April
- Pink area – Room 9 Cleaning happening Wednesday 12th April
- Orange Areas (Rooms 14, 16, 23, psych office, therapy office, 28, 29) Cleaning happening Thursday 13th April
- Green Areas (Rooms 1, 2, 3, 21, 22, 25, 26, 27) Cleaning happening Friday 14th April
You are able to come into school any time you wish to, except for the day your area is being cleaned.
The cleaners will not be unlocking or unalarming areas around the school. This means if you want to come in you need to make sure you have keys/alarm codes or that someone is able to unlock/unalarm and lock up for you.
I will be in over the holidays on different days – and am happy to come in and unlock/unalarm for you - you just need to let me know when.
Hopefully this works well, and everyone will be able to have all the access they need over the holidays.
Mosquitos in toilets/classrooms
Unfortunately we are not allowed to spray any sort of chemicals for pests while students are accessing classrooms/toilets. However there may be a solution if we do something each Friday afternoon before we go home. If mosquitos are still a problem in toilets please let me know, and we can make a plan for weekends.
Faults – broken/things not working around the school
If you notice something broken/not working around the school please let admin know. It is free for us to fix things such as leaks, flickering lights, uneven bricks, holes in drainpipes, unsafe branches etc. We can call as many of these in as there is, so please be on the look out.
As the weather turns, it is likely that bricks start to move, and leaks happen. Please let us know as you see these.
Many staff have lots of talents that we may not know about at school. I would like to start a bit of a pop up shop, where staff can bring in things they create to sell, or where staff can advertise a service they might provide outside of school (spray tan etc.)
If this is something that you think you would like to contribute to let me know. I envisage we will use one of the small office spaces in the staff room.
Flu vaccination bookings were sent to all staff via email on Monday.
Please see details below and click the link in the email, or below to book your spot. Ensure you complete the consent form.
Dear Staff,
We are offering all employees the opportunity to receive the Influenza (Flu) vaccination this year.
The vaccinator will come to our workplace and we can each see them and have our vaccination in private. It only takes 1-2 minutes of your time.
Flu vaccination is the best protection we currently have against Influenza and Flu vaccinations remain very important in 2023. Flu cases rise as international travel increases, and Flu is circulating in the Northern Hemisphere now. The UK is experiencing strong uptake of flu vaccinations at work and in the community. It is important that Australians are also protected for their own well-being and to help ease pressure on our workforce and health system.
Medimobile's Medical Director, Dr Kirsten Baulch has advised that the latest national guidelines says it doesn’t matter which brand of Covid vaccine you are having, nor whether it is your first, second, third, or booster dose of Covid vaccination, you can still have your flu vaccination on any given day with no break between any of the vaccines.
