*Craft Club is cancelled for T3 and recommence T4

Happy book week!!

Over the next week or so can everyone please complete the attached Staff Record Form and return to Kirsty H. Please ensure all your details are up to date. We rely on this information and it is also vitally important that you have stated someone to be an emergency contact for you. Several staff have not listed anyone, and in the event of any kind of emergency this is where we look to contact someone.

Tim, Heidi and I will be attending the QASEL conference next week. The Queensland Association of Special Education Leaders is the largest special education association in Australia. It is a 3 day conference and we fly out on Tuesday afternoon. Hopefully when we return we will be able to share all the amazing things happening around Australia.

Next week is book week! Bri is sending out some information – and has kept everyone up to date with the activities set throughout the week. Huge thank you to Bri and the book week team for being so organised and planning all these events.

All assessment data has now been collated and shared at teacher meetings. There have been some trends that have come out of the data, which will now drive where we go to next. Specifically, comprehension is the sticking point in all assessments, in that students are not able to generalise key terms and concepts. Similarly in literacy there are key development points that our students do not grasp readily, making it difficult for them to progress as quickly.

In week 7 (our whole school staff meeting) Shelda and Kane will be leading a session on critical thinking, and how student development in this area is crucial for them to learn.

Building works will be commencing on Monday 21 August to install decking and stairs around Rooms 28 and 29.

Areas will be fenced off accordingly, but please ensure children are supervised in this area.
