*Craft Club is cancelled for T3 and will recommence T4
SEND have been involved with Connor for nearly a term now. They have observed Connor and staff interacting with him, and have said everyone is doing everything absolutely perfect with him, from supporting him in class, to the playground etc. and feel we are doing everything we could be to support him… therefore the next step is for them to try something different to try and “circuit break” some of his behaviours. The first one to look at is the transitions back to the drumming room after break times. SEND are going to be out all day next Monday and Tuesday to work with Connor and try something different for recess and lunch.
SEND have suggested Connor have a different (shortened) recess and lunch break to try and “unpair” the sound of the bell with his current behaviour. Therefore from Monday Connor’s “play” times will be recess 10:05 – 10:15am and 12:02 – 12:22pm. They are at these times so we have a full 10 minutes to transition him back to the drumming room before the other students go out to play.
If you are the person who has 1:1 duty with Connor can you please go on duty with Connor first and then take your break after this time. SEND will be taking the lead on Monday and Tuesday, and I feel they will encourage us to interact with Connor if he is willing to, and initiates it.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Admin have discussed ways to make this process more meaningful for those involved. Looking at the department policy which we need to follow, it looks like we must meet formally to discuss self reflection, goal setting and planning, actually completing the goals and reviewing. There is also a requirement for this process to be documented formally. Attached is the proforma for both. I will be putting it out there to meet with teachers, and Sean, Jan and Antoinette will be in touch regarding education assistants.
We are going to have an extra assembly on Tuesday 12th September at 2:15pm. This assembly will be led by the student councillors. Reece and the choir will perform what they did at One Big Voice at HBF Arena.
Next Friday is the faction carnival. The idea is that students enjoy the carnival and join in as much as they can. It is absolutely fine if students need to return to class or don’t run in their allocated race for whatever reason. If you require extra support or need help writing a plan for students please let us know. Oval gates and admin gates will be unlocked throughout the day.
Parents are able to take students home early if they wish to, however they do need to sign out via the front office. Kirsty will put sign out sheets in teacher pigeon holes also in case of an early finish and collection from classrooms.
Please find current permssions checklist attached, for follow up with parents/carers. Jan has already sent images regarding swimming notes returned.
