*Craft Club Weeks 2 to 9
Our school is becoming very full of resources again… It is time that we start to go through classrooms and throw out/return things that you are no longer using.
- If things have a school bar code on them and you are no longer using it, please return it to where it belongs (maths, literacy. HASS etc.)
- If the item has a school bar code but is damaged, broken or missing pieces please put all of the items in a box and bring them up to the office to be de-accessioned and thrown away.
- If the item has no bar code on it (like toys) and they are ratty, old or worn, throw them in the bin!
- If the items are no longer needed in your classroom, but too good to throw away please bring them to J Block and we will put photos up to see if anyone wants them. We can then determine what we give away, throw away or store.
Tuesday Commissioner for young people – Mauritius
On Tuesday from 10:30 – 12:30 we will be having the Commission For Young People from Mauritius visiting. There will be four people in total visiting (2 people from the department, 2 from Mauritius). They will go on a bit of a tour of the school, perhaps go in a couple of classrooms to say hello, and head to the staff room for a working lunch. I may ask a couple of people to be part of this tour.
It is World Teacher's Day on Friday 27th October. Although it says it is world teachers day, it is a day we can celebrate the work we do as educators! We will having a breakfast in the staff room from 7:00am onwards. There will be a BBQ brekkie and some croissants, fruit etc. so please come along.
Thank you everyone for your feedback and patience while we work out these lists. As you have seen, 1 change has a domino effect on 6 or 7 staff, so some of you have moved over and over again. I think we are just about there, as soon as we are I will send out a final draft. Please note that these lists are always in draft form as circumstances for staff (and students) can change at any minute which changes our planning.
If you have some feedback about the lists please come up and say something, and please have an idea of a solution as well. We have tried to make the classes as even as we can, prioritising;
- Full time teacher with part time EA’s OR part time teacher with full time EA’s
- Student needs
- Staff/parent requests
- Staff strengths (AAC, Foundational skills etc.)
Once the draft is finalised I will send a letter out to all families saying we are at this stage and we can send social stories home with photos of teachers etc. I will also say that circumstances can change though. We can also then discuss staff spending time with students to get to know them, as well as changing classrooms for any teachers that will be physically moving.
Next Thursday Georgia from Beldon ESC will be coming in the morning to visit a couple of classrooms to see how we teach. She is specifically interested in the foundational skills stuff.
We are beginning to get a few requests from different schools to either go and present to their school, or for them to come to us. On Wednesday Shelda and Kirsty delivered some professional learning to a group from a number of schools. Bel, Deb and Amanda attended from our school. Session 2 of this PL will be Wednesday morning of week four. Next Friday Kirsty and Shelda are presenting at Westminster ESC.
We are hopeful to have a number of modules of PL created so we have a range of things to deliver. Ideally we would like all our staff to have access to this PL too – we will do some of this next year.
We made it! Huge thank you to everyone for getting stuck in, staying in bathers, staying wet, having students nearly drown you in the pool, being a spotter watching as students drown colleagues in the pool, rushing to get students ready and to the bus, the 17 wee stops on the way or the way back etc. etc.
Swimming has done really well this year considering it was a new venue, at an awkward time.
Im not sure what we will end up with next year – as what we have been given (date and pool) is not appropriate, however we know HBF Arena will still be out of action.
The festive season is upon us. No I am not talking about the boring Christmas celebrations. I am talking about Hawaiian Shirt Fridays. It was great to see so many people getting on board for Flanno Fridays and now its time to add a bit of colour and flare to the school. If possible, come dressed in your most colourful and eye catching shirts each Friday.
Have a great Term 4.
