We have survived Week One, even with the heat! Hopefully everyone has enough furniture and working equipment.
Students have come back pleased for some routine and structure, and classes overall seem really calm and ready to learn.
Reminder that the canteen is now closed.
Our new supplier is Locavora who deliver lunch (no recess) orders to the school on Wednesday's, Thursday's and Friday's.
Staff can also order lunch-you will need to create your account in website shown in flyer.
Information attached
Please ensure you have watched the training videos sent via link in yesterday's email as staff will be completing the rolls from Monday.
If you have been notified of a student absence, please ensure you allocate the correct code and add the reason-otherwise the parent will get an absentee message.
Rolls must be done prior to 9.15am each day.
I have also added a quick guide for staff wanting to find documents/phone lists etc.
Please continue to use the Academy training options for self learning as this is very user friendly.
Friendly reminder from the cleaners that if the soap dispensers are empty, please open the front plate and they will fill. There is a button on the underside of the unit to unlock the front.
Smoking Ceremony & PBS Activities Friday 9th February
Our annual smoking ceremony will be held around the yearning circle. The current start time is 9:30 – however we are hopeful he will be able to start earlier at 9:00am. This ceremony doesn’t take long, and parents will be invited.
Between recess and lunch a number of activities will be taking place outside, and everyone is invited. This is part of the Primary School’s PBS launch. This is designed to be a fun positive experience, if your students do not want to go, or are not enjoying the activities it is absolutely fine to go back to your class with them.
Here is some PBS information from the Primary School; (Please note we are supportive of this initiative but will not be doing Dojo points with our students)
1. We have four values - We are Respectful. We are Responsible. We are Kind. We do our Best.
2. Characters are
We are Respectful - Billie
We are Responsible - Lucca
We are Kind - Zanda
We do our Best - Maali
3. We are using Class Dojo across the primary school for all rewards. We have tokens which anyone can give out whilst on duty.
4. The Launch date is Friday 9 February between recess and lunch. The activities will be set up and the activities relate to each of these values. It is very games based and not heavy on resources. We are having an icy pole at the end.
5. Staff will not use PBS logos, characters etc. until Week 3 i.e. after the launch.
6. We have a PBS meeting on Thursday after school and I can give you some more details.
A reminder about assemblies. Ideally all students (PP – Yr 6) attend assembly and sit appropriately the whole time. If you have students that are unable to stay seated and are likely to scream/shout out during assembly, they do not need to attend, or could attend for a short amount of time. This is up to your judgement, as we want assemblies to be a positive experience for everyone. It is ok to bring “distractors” such as twiddle toys, earphones etc. if students needs them.
Space is pretty tight in the undercover area, and it is not compulsory for all staff to attend. If you are able to, send your class with 1 or 2 staff do this, and use the time to plan and prep.
Please see the attached flyer for a SSTUWA meeting after school on Tuesday. It will take place in the staffroom for those wishing to attend.
Michelle Connor – Registered Nurse
Michelle has joined our team! Michelle is a registered nurse who will be predominately working with Isla. Michelle will be working Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays (which are the same days as Isla). Michelle brings with her a wealth of knowledge and will be working with us to update our medical procedures, and will be able to support classrooms peg feeding etc.
I try and put photos up each day – if you capture something great happening please send it through so I can put it up. We love seeing students with good work up at the office! Send students up any time with good work to share.
At this stage, you are unable to view permissions easily in Compass. Please continue to use the attached for the time being.
We have a number of prac students that will be starting at different times throughout the year. Next week Rachel Wescombe will start a 2 week EA prac in room 16.
