Staff Meeting Wednesday 14th February
There will be a whole school staff meeting in the staffroom on Wednesday. It will be from 3:15 – 4:15pm. Education Assistants you will be paid for this additional time.
International Women’s Day – Monday 18th March
International Women’s Day will be held on Monday 18th March (Monday week 8). We would like to celebrate with a shared breakfast in the staffroom… however with a bit of a twist.
This time around we would like to try people bringing something to share. If you would like to bring something that needs to be heated up or cooked, admin will be able to do this early Monday morning. Alternatively if you would like to share some fruit, or muffins etc. just bring them in on the morning. This way we hope to get a large range of different things on the morning.
Harmony Day/Ride to School Day
This year this will be held on Friday 22nd March (Friday week 8) More information will come out closer to the date, however it will be a morning event, there will be fruit on arrival and everyone can wear orange. Students/staff can also scooter in, roller blade in, and wheel in.
Students travelling on the bus
Students have been arriving a little later on the big bus than what they were last year. The reason for this is as follows;
This bus also has Belridge Secondary ESC students on it. In 2023 Belridge were welcoming the bus at 8:20am and then the bus would come to us. This year, Belridge have said that the bus cannot arrive until 8:30… although this is only 10 minutes difference it means that the bus arrives at the same time as all the other busses and has to wait in a queue for a place for students to alight. The bus driver has requested a designated spot, and priority be given to his bus to support students so that they can leave and come to us straight away. They are still working this out, and hope to have everything organised in the next few days.
They are also just working out how long it takes for students to get on the bus each morning etc. If the bus continues to arrive late in a couple of weeks we will negotiate a solution so our students are not missing out on too much learning time.
Michelle Carrol – Nurse onsite!
Michelle has joined our staff and will be working with us on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. These are the days Isla is in. Michelle’s primary role is to care for Isla, and make sure the staff in the classroom feel supported with Isla’s complex medical needs.
As her role develops Michelle will be able to provide us with support and advice on some of our procedures. It also helps that we have someone who knows all about the medical stuff (especially as Jane D is going on holiday soon!)
If students get injured, or you feel they need medical attention, please bring them up to the office as would usually do. At the office we can follow our usual process, and if a decision is made that we need support/advice from Michelle then we can make that decision together at the office.
Michelle will also be able to support us for anaphylaxis, epilepsy and asthma plans and training.
If you have any questions come and see me
See attached picture, if you would like these they are in J Block – just help yourself. These can be used to store all assessment information for students, and make a great handover folder from year to year.
Carol Selley has sent an email out everyone with more information about Monday and the PBS launch. All staff and students are encouraged to wear green, gold, blue, and red (and any combination of these colours) as they represent the 4 values that they are launching. I have attached the rules of the games and information about Monday.
Further to the email that I sent about the PBS Launch taking place on Monday 12 February, here is some information:
1. I have attached the instructions for the games and the script that goes with it. The games promote the behaviour and introduce the characters to the children. You have been linked with your buddy class. It is important that you have a read through the information so that you know what to expect.
2. Everyone will be getting an icy pole before going to recess and we will deliver these to the classroom / block. Please check dietary requirements for students.
3. Each class will get a set of characters for you to display in your classroom. If you have spare time
and want to do some cutting, please see Katy Harding in Room 19. Kindness, Respect, Responsibility and Doing Our Best are universal behaviours so the characters wont conflict with anything that you are normally promoting.
4. On Monday children and staff are being encouraged to wear red, yellow, blue or green or any combination of these colours. Information will be sent to families on tomorrow (Thursday).
You know your children in terms of what they are capable of, how they will manage the hot weather, if they like crowds, can cope with changing stations etc. Please join in where you can.
The SSTUWA have suggested a number of industrial action bans to be implemented at school. If you are a union member and you will be/are exercising these suggestions from the union can you please let me know so I can make a plan in the event information needs to be passed on, or it impacts classrooms.
Attached is the information on the Blue and Gold range and also the School’s Aboriginal shirt deigned by Bev Shaw.
Within each attachment you will see the range on offer, 2024 Prices and measurements and at the end of each attachment is the ORDER FORM.
You need to complete an ORDER FORM for each range and they come from different companies and I need to keep details separate.
I will only be accepting orders on the ORDER FORM so please don’t just email me what you want.
PRINT out the FORM, Complete it, pay into the Staff Association Account (info on order form) and put your order in the RED BOX on my desk in the Associate Office in E Block.
You have 1 week to place your order so hopefully we receive them this term.
ORDERS MUST BE IN NO LATER THAN 12:30PM NEXT Wednesday 14th Feb 2024.
For the Aboriginal Shirt it’s a 6 to 7 week delivery, not sure on Blue and Gold usually fairly quick if in stock.
