*Craft Club Tuesdays Weeks 2-7 in Term 1
*Garden Club Thursdays Weeks 2-8 in Term 1
Is 2:15pm this Friday. On Wednesday admin will sit together to work out any changes that may need to happen to our plans. We don’t anticipate the drill to take very long at all. Please prep your students.
On Tuesday I will be attending a review about de-escalation techniques. At present the Department have a contract with “Team Teach” as the preferred training/strategy for positive handling. This contract is due for renewal, and we will be providing feedback on what schools actually need, and if the department will continue with the contract with Team Teach, or will try a different/additional providers.
Swimming, Aqua Motion Wanneroo
We finally have an answer about swimming! Jan has secured us Aquamotion in Wanneroo for our swimming lessons this year. It will be in Term 3, Weeks 5-6 (12/8 – 23/8). More information will come out closer to the time, however these dates and venues are now confirmed.
These sessions are really important to attend, and even more so for all staff to rotate to have sessions, to make sure that teachers and education assistants are going. If you have scheduled times to go with students, and haven’t been attending, I'll get in touch to see if there is a more suitable time for you, or if you need support.
Kane and Shelda can support staff and students with so much more than just explicit teaching and the foundational skills, they have a wealth of knowledge in everything education. If you haven’t yet make sure you get in touch with them to troubleshoot, or discuss things that you are working on in your classroom.
The P&C have asked that we put together a wish list of things we might like the P&C to fund this year. If you can think of something, please let me know and I will get it to the P&C. in previous years the P&C have donated to camps, seating, literacy books, resources etc.
Cleaners – E Block and the Staffroom
The cleaning schedule has changed a little to accommodate Camp Australia being in the wet area before and after school. Therefore the cleaners will now clean in E Block early in the morning. They will be cleaning the staff room at about 2:15pm each afternoon. Staff can still use this space, cleaners will be respectful if people are working and meeting in there.
For those who stay after school on a Friday -please make sure all the doors are locked and the air conditioners/lights are off, as the cleaners won't be coming back to the staff room. It has also been asked if you can start to pack up and leave at 5:45pm, unless there is someone there who can alarm the staff room.
Russell was the substantive principal at JPS prior to Carol. He was heavily involved with Srang School – our sister school in Cambodia. He is coming to talk to everyone on Tuesday at contact. The contact meeting with be joint in the staffroom on Tuesday recess.
Ride To School Day & Harmony Day
Attached is information that will be going home to families in the newsletter next week about Ride to School Day. It will be held on Friday March 22nd, and will look very much like it did last year.
It is also Harmony Day and we will be encouraging everyone to dress in orange.
Classes will be sent a template of a body that can be decorated and have some information about each persons history and culture. It would lovely for these to be posted on the class room windows in a line – it will look like all the students are holding hands.
Feedback about relief / prac students
Please give us feedback about relief teachers, EA’s and prac students. The more feedback we get the better.
Jade Downing commences on Tuesday in Room 14 and Romony Beams commences on Thursday in Room 16.
Thank you for the support in taking all these prac students. Please keep the feedback coming, as if they are not a good fit, or they are not picking up skills we will request their placement to cease.
Wetting agent will be spread on the oval between Friday 1st March 2024 to Friday 8th March. It is non hazardous and students can access the oval straight after application. We don’t have an exact time or day unfortunately. This is just an FYI.
Please see bus roster attached for weeks 6 to 9 of Term 1.
Kindy staff will need to meet Tate Roberts from and walk to the bus on his days please.
