Jack Tan-Gardener - will be on leave from weeks 8 to 10
The day… We will be going to the Hijinx Hotel in Karrinyup Challenge Rooms in Karrinyup | Hijinx Hotel (There is plenty more than just challenge rooms! This is just the website link)
We have the whole venue to ourselves for the entire day. Things to know about the day…
Please arrive by 8.30am for a 9.00am start so we are able to be briefed on all the activities.
There will be some activities that we will be in 'teams' for and some that will be individual.
Wear comfortable clothing.
Morning tea and lunch will be provided but… Morning Tea will not be provided by HiJinx, instead you can go to the food court or outdoor area and choose whatever you like. Those with a school credit card please bring them as this will pay for all the morning teas. (Share your card around with people).
The day will finish by 3'ish, but you are welcome to stay longer than this. There is a bar within HiJinx, and people are able to purchase an alcoholic drinks for themselves from lunch time onwards… but there will still be activities after lunch.
Remembrance Day Monday 11 November
Remembrance Day is Monday 11 November.
Just before 11am, we will have a brief announcement over the PA, and ask students and staff to observe a one minute silence.
Please send Kirsty H your RSVP for Compass training on Monday 11 November 3.15pm-4.00pm.
There is some training to be done around events - especially roll marking on the day, as this looks different to regular daily marking.
Please come along to learn how the roll marking will change on event days, and feel free to ask any questions you have around events specifically.
Send me any questions prior to Monday so we can organise the time effectively.
So far, I have the following staff attending:
Sandi Bennett
Tim Hamilton
Ria Oosthuizen
Lorraine Martin
There are also plenty of training videos and forms located at:
Interim Kaartdijin Solution (det.wa.edu.au)
Thanks
Kirsty
Thursday, 14th November - Health and Wellness Day
Please see information below from Skye regarding this day. ECU prac teachers will be leading many of the sessions. Please give feedback about how they do, as this is part of their placement requirements:
Health and Wellness Day is on Thursday, 14th November. Attached are the timetables for the day, please print the relevant timetable for your year group.
Students will be participating in a range of activities throughout the day that promote mindfulness and wellbeing. These activities include: Nature Walks, Drumming, Sensory Bottle and Stress Ball creation, Art, Movement and much more! Students need to wear their school uniforms for the day and will all require a broad-brim hat.
The sessions are set-up in the following way:
Activity - Classes participating in the activity at that time
Facilitator - Location
Just look for your room number at each different timeslot and highlight it. Primary School and ESC buddy classes will be working together.
You will be completing 7 or 8 different activities throughout the day. If you notice any problems with the timetable please let me know as soon as possible so I can fix it.
Important information about the day:
· On Wednesday afternoon colourful bunting may turn up in your room and/or blocks, could you please work together with your ‘block buddies’ and hang the bunting along the verandas. This is to identify rooms or areas that are being used during the day. You may also end up with equipment in your classrooms or wet areas in preparation for the Thursday, you don’t need to do anything with this equipment as it will be dealt with by the session facilitators.
· Come dressed in comfortable clothing and if you have a positive slogan shirt it would be great to see those on the day. Students are to wear their school uniforms.
· Have students take their hats and drink bottles with them to all activities. Please also make sure you have student medical equipment (one of the senior activities will take you off site).
· Take a camera or iPad to take pictures of the day – please then select 5 of your best photos from the day to send through to me. Please ensure that all children in the photos you send me have media release permission as these may end up being published.
· Take a box/tray to collect student work.
· Please use the reflection time in your classrooms to discuss the activities they have just participated in and how they can relate to finding moments of mindfulness.
· We will all eat together on the oval between 12.32pm and 12.42pm, it would be wonderful to have as many staff as possible sitting with the students during the 10 minute eating time.
· Recess will be slightly later and go from 10.35am - 10.55am. Recess and lunch duties remain the same as the Duty Roster, with the recess duty being at the adjusted time.
· If you are able to hang around for half an hour after the day to help remove bunting and pack away equipment it would be greatly appreciated.
The extended forecast is looking to be about 28 degrees with some late clouds so we are planning for outdoor activities. If anything changes I will send out an updated timetable with new locations.
Any questions, please see Skye Mercer
Have been predominately finalised now. You can tell families where there child will be, but do let them know this still could change. There is a hard copy in my office and with Sean and Louise if you want to check it out.
Are going to Cassia ESC on Sunday and will be returning on Tuesday. As a QTS school we are heading up to bring the good stuff we do here to them. We will make sure to take lots of photos and share our travels with you.
Please see attached fundraiser update, and message below from PAtrick's Mum:
Thank you for the school support of our fundraiser! I've attached the finishing information.
Fundraising is going pretty well, still hoping to raise a few more funds to reach the goal.
Kind Regards,
