Mathiang – Left school grounds
On Wednesday Mathiang left the school grounds during lunch time and staff were alerted by a community member, as he ran past the junior playground. Huge thank you to Margaret and Demi who ran after Mathiang, and Kylie for organizing everyone else during the incident. When Mathiang came back onsite we followed him to see where he went, as we could not work out how he left. He ran straight to library door which was unlocked and then ran straight through the exit door into the carpark.
This was a really close call, and is a huge reminder to always leave gates and doors as you found them. As it was a Wednesday, it means it was our day in the library, and some one had forgot to lock it. Please be vigilant!
On our Staff Development Day in Term 2 we will all be heading to the Perth Convention Centre for a large Education Support Conference. Kirsty, Shelda and Kane will be presenting for a session which is very exciting.
Our Key Note Speaker is Dr Ross Greene. He will do a virtual keynote at the conference, and have the opportunity to have a Q and A with him. Dr Ross Greene is the author of The Explosive Child and Lost at School. Below is a link to a video of Dr Greene.
This will be hosted in the staff room. Teachers – you will be replaced with an ECU CELP student during this time. Below is where they were scheduled to be, and where they will be instead – just until 9:30 when the training ends, when they will return to where they will be for their prac.
Below are the scheduled NAPLAN times. Classes shouldn’t need to do anything different – however please avoid C Block and D Block during these times. If a student becomes loud, try and keep them some distance from these blocks so students can concentrate.

Variety – The Children’s Charity of WA
On Thursday 13 March, Variety will be presenting Joondalup Education Support Centre with a cheque for $7,500. This is in addition to a successful $2,500 grant bid by the school to help support families regardless of their circumstances.
As part of this presentation, several vintage and classic cars will be on show at the school for the students to see and even sit in.
The cars will then head off in procession to Lancelin on the next part of their journey.
Please have students on the oval ready for presentation by 9am, if it suits the class.
