Principal's Report

Kaya families

A warm welcome back to term two. The seasons are changing, and as the weather is getting cooler more students will be wearing jumpers and jackets. Parents please make sure these have names in them, as students tend to take them off when they feel warm, and leave them where ever they have taken them off.

A reminder that school closes early (11:45) on Thursday 11 May. The school bus will not be picking students up at 11:45. Please ensure you have made arrangements to pick your children up. Parents, if your child goes to an out of school care provider, ensure you have made arrangements with them. Camp Australia have advised that they will not be operating after school on this day. The Primary School will be hosting parent/teacher meetings in the afternoon. We will be hosting parent/teacher meetings on the first day of term three.

We have had a change to our school photo days. School photos will now be on Tuesday 16 May and Thursday 18 May. Flyers have been sent home with your unique student number. More information can be found in this newsletter.

Ms Bennett and the WA Scout Group took our containers for change bin to be counted over the holidays. We returned 1,255 containers! What a great effort. These containers have earned the school $125.50, which will go towards our sustainability program.

Congratulations to the P&C on such a successful Easter Raffle! Isla Wilson was the golden ticket winner who walked away with the big prize! There were over 120 prizes given away… total monies raised was $2,607. Thank you to all the families who donated and purchased tickets to support our P&C.

Last week our Student Captains went on a leadership camp with leaders from other Education Support Centres. We had a fantastic time and students challenged themselves to try things they had never done before, such as sleep away from home, try the high ropes, archery and even have a shower rather than a bath. Our leaders have made our school so proud of their achievements.

All our Year Six students will be going on camp later in the year, and everyone is really looking forward to it.

Congratulations to all those who participated by joining in, watching or cheering for our cross country runners last week. It was a very well organised event. Huge thanks to Mrs Smith, Ms Martin and Mr Morrey for all the hard work in organising the day. The interschool event will be held on this Friday – and we have a few students representing both Primary Schools which is an outstanding effort.

Kind regards

Natalie Hatton
